When I Killed Your Rock And Roll.

Guitar Broken By a Band Named Silvertide.
Shame on you!

Today I shall express my anger towards the world of Rock and Roll. Yes I love their music. Ofcourse I love a lot of talented, amazing, sexy, hot rockers. Example? Daniel Victor of the Never Ending White Lights. However, what angers me with most rockers (or rocker wanabees) is their need to break perfectly good guitars! I mean come on... werent you all poor once? Didnt you all have this amazing urge to buy a guitar but couldnt because it cost alotta money? So why go and break these amazing tools of art!? Do you see painters breaking their canvas?! Do you see actors ripping themselves apart? Do you see Tim Burton breaking his 3000 dollar camera? No! So why do you find it so tempting to break a perfectly crafted peice of instrument? What does it give you? Do you think to yourself "haha. in your face you fucking guitar. Now I can afford a gazillion of you! So I dont care if I break a hundred more!"

Well if thats your way of thinking, its quite odd really. Because there are those... wanabees like me who can't afford guitars. My solution really is, please instead of breaking those guitars give them to me! I will take them all, old or new.

I need to start some ... group that prevents violence against acoustic instruments!

Really now... just take the lyrics from this song by Audioslave (Which I adore by the way) :

I like throwing my voice and breaking guitarsCause it doesn't remind me of anythingI like playing in the sand what's mine is oursIf it doesn't remind me of anything

Well ofcourse.. if they like doing because it doesn't remind them of anything, then I allow it :)
I think there will be quite a few breaches of contract in my established group. I mean there have got to be exceptions. Especially if the act is committed by sweaty, muscular, talented, funny, deep, poetic, men.
R.I.P All broken Guitars.

Quite simply, in my point of view,
the act of destroying the rock and roll artists guitar was an act of passion and a statement (at least initially). Was not the art of Rock and Roll to break away from mainstream and "the man"? In the end, the statements they wanted to make with their form of music and their passion they wanted to express needed no guitar. The Man could take away their tools, but they could never take away their purpose. That is why I think they smash their guitars --- at least at first, before it became a passionless trend. point. narf.

hm. That's an interesting point Robin :) I see where you're going with it. I like when you say: The man could take away their tools, but they could never tkae away their purpose.

But nevertheless I guess the passionless trend bothers me the most.
